With the evolution in society & the changes in thoughts, beliefs, ethos and ways of living encompassing the Indian society over the century, the Jain community could not & did not remain immune and isolated from the social changes.

Education Initiative
Education is the only key factor that can bring in social transformation. BJS has worked in education from three perspectives, contributing with a set of interventions for students’ learning, improving quality…
Our Project
Business Development Program
Lack of appropriate and timely guidance is a serious concern for the entrepreneurs of this country. BJS understands the importance and the need of this national issue and has taken a step ahead to work on it by way of ‘Business Development Program’.
It is a great platform for small, big retailers, wholesalers, traders, dealers, distributers, manufacturers and women entrepreneurs to have a revolution in their own business.
Our Project
Medical Camp
One of the major programs of BJS has been the medical camps and plastic surgeries for the persons born with congenital Facial Deformities.
Starting these camps from 1990, BJS has restored smiles on the faces of over 200,000 such persons comprising children, youth and old from different parts of India by operating on them and giving them a normal physical look to lead a normal life overcoming physical deformity and social stigma.
Our Project
Empowerment of Girls
Empowerment of Girls has become a critical imperative in our quest to have a happy and successful future for our girl child by creating awareness in them regarding the multiplicity of the challenges faced in today’s society in transition.
The concept of empowerment flows from the word ‘POWER’. It is vesting of power where it does not exist, or exist inadequately. In this context, Empowerment of Girls would mean equipping them to be economically independent, self-reliant, possess positive esteem to enable them to face, cope, and stand up to any difficult situation / challenge.
Our Project
Disaster Response
Disasters have always co-existed with human civilization & its progress. Over the last few decades its propensity has been increasingly noticed, & unfortunately India too experienced natural disasters of gigantic proportions causing huge misery in terms of large scale death & destruction. The loss in terms of private, community & public assets have been astronomical BJS identified the area of disaster response management as one of its key area of operation and have undertaken many relief & rehabilitation operations successfully.
Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana is the Volunteers’ Network
BJS NETWORK
The foundation of Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana is the Volunteers’ Network that Shri. Shantilal Muttha envisioned and built very meticulously since day one. BJS has a network of more than 20,000 Office Bearers actively carrying out BJS responsibilities with relentless commitment and lakhs of volunteers supporting them.
This volunteers’ network is the real strength of the organization. Having such a network till grass-root level with the commitment of time and resources for the social cause, BJS demonstrated the power of executing projects or many seemingly uphill tasks with speed and scale.
Only office bearers of BJS councils at various levels can be estimated to be around more than 1500. They are supported by 1000s of volunteers across the country.
Shantilal Muttha was born on 15th August 1954, in Dongarkinhi, a small village in Beed-a backward district of Maharashtra in a household with modest means. Raised and schooled without a mother whom he lost when he was only six months old, he had a difficult childhood experiencing the hardships that come with a migratory lifestyle.
During his stay in a Jain boarding school from Std 8 to 11th in village Kada (dist. Beed) he closely experienced the stark social disparities and the exploitation of the marginalized at the hands of the rich.
This left an indelible mark of anguish and compassion for the less fortunate on his young mind.
